We’ve just celebrated our 300th Story of Hope! Every treatment we’ve provided, every life we’ve saved, has a story. With your help, these stories – and future ones – will continue to be shared.

With your donation, Gateway to Hope will:

• Develop individualized treatment plans and arrange care through our provider network.
• Recruit professional partners to donate medical and surgical care and support services.
• Educate the community about our program, who is eligible and how to contact us or make a referral.

Gateway to Hope targets patients who, when they find or suspect a lump, tend not to have it checked because they do not have the financial resources to follow through with treatment. Even if they are offered free mammograms, they choose not to have them because they know that if something is found, they cannot afford care. Unfortunately, with new limitations and significant cutbacks in Medicaid and similar programs, an increased number of patients are no longer able to access care they desperately need.

While services and facilities are donated by our program partners, fundraising is necessary to allow our Program Nurse Managers to arrange patient care, to secure additional partners and providers, for health education, community outreach and program awareness initiatives as well as standard administrative expenses.

Your support is critical in enabling us to provide assistance to patients in need of breast cancer treatment and their families. Here are some ways you can help:

THELMA'S GIFT is a special fund created in support of the Gateway to Hope program to honor the memory of Thelma Muskin. The fund is used to provide services and support for our patients undergoing treatment, specifically those items that Gateway to Hope may not always be able to provide.  

Funds from THELMA’S GIFT will provide everything from childcare while undergoing treatment to food, gasoline, utilities, transportation or any necessary item that could improve the quality of their lives (or their families' lives) and make it easier for patients to complete their treatment.  Those who choose to make a contribution to Gateway to Hope in Thelma's memory (or who might choose to support this fund in the future to recognize other important events in their lives) could earmark their gift for this fund knowing exactly how the money would be used.

Thelma and Arthur have (since day one) been among the most generous and passionate supporters of Gateway to Hope. THELMA'S GIFT will be a lasting tribute to a very special woman who understood all too well what a difficult battle our patients are fighting.

GAIL’S LEGACY is a special fund created in support of the Gateway to Hope program to honor the memory of Gail Gast. The fund will be used to provide services and support for our patients undergoing treatment, specifically those items that Gateway to Hope may not always be able to provide.

GAIL’S LEGACY will be a lasting tribute to a very extraordinary woman. Gateway to Hope is especially important to Gail’s daughter Jacki who is a founding board member and active chairperson at Gateway to Hope.
