Turning Heartache Into Hope
As a new mother, Chantelle had her hands full with a beautiful baby girl. Her bliss was shattered when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Young and still shaken from losing her mother to the same disease, Chantelle felt lost and devastated.
One week after her diagnosis, Chantelle’s insurance benefits were completely exhausted. Early in her treatment regimen, her out-of-pocket expenses were rapidly approaching $100,000.
“It felt like a death sentence. Knowing you don’t have time. What do you do? My husband and I felt so hopeless.”
A nurse told Chantelle about Gateway to Hope. Walking through the doorway was a turning point in her battle. Everything changed. The Gateway to Hope staff immediately began scheduling her treatment.
Today, Chantelle is a healthy mother, wife, board member and advocate for Gateway to Hope.
“Cancer doesn’t stop because you can’t pay for treatment. People don’t know there is a resource. It’s my duty to make sure others know there is an organization willing to go to battle with you and stand by you each and every step of the way. Gateway to Hope was my angel.”
